Thursday

Wait a minute, you guys had snow?!?! Is that what I'm seeing? We did not have snow. We had sun. We are all getting a nice tan. But don't worry, we are also wearing lots of sunscreen.

Today was our day off since mortaring the walls takes more skill than we have. We met with Johny and Rosadite Philippe and headed off to visit Merger! Our first stop was at a church in Merger. There were 4 women inside and Johny told us that these are women that want to make a difference in Merger, but they don't have anything to give. So they come to the church everyday for hours and just pray. It was beautiful to watch. Then we visited a couple of houses that previous teams had built. We got to meet one of the families, and they remembered Floyd from when he worked on their house.

Our next stop was the school! We arrived just at recess. The smiles on those kids faces will be impossible to forget. They all start yelling "Hey you!" as we drove up and as soon as we had gotten out of the trucks, we were surrounded. We got to meet the children that our families sponsor, and had so much fun getting to visit with all those sweet children. We got to see the Kitchen that Glenwood has helped to build and we saw the building site for the new classrooms.

After we got home, we visited the worksite to see our friends and see the progress that had been made today. We are excited to get back to work and finish this house!

This is Zizi. It is his house we are building. He is a very hard worker and has thanked us everyday when we arrive on the job site and thanked us again everyday when we leave.
