Children's Ministry

Hello Families!

If you received our most recent church-wide email (3/21/20), you read we have extended the suspension of all church activities through March 31 to minimize the health impact of COVID-19. The church office will also be closed during this time; however, we will answer phones during regular office hours (Tuesday - Friday, 9am - 4pm), and we will continue to post updates about the situation on our website.

In the meanwhile, we, in Children's Ministries, will send periodic mini-Sunday-lessons for you to enjoy and participate in as families like this:

Will He not care for us much more?

This past Thursday was the first day of spring and the daffodils splashed vibrant sunshine along our roadsides in celebration of the season. Interestingly, no weaver labored to spin thousands of little golden outfits for each of them, and they have even bloomed by the hundreds without toil. If Jesus had been in our region in his day, I think He would have undoubtedly crowned the daffodil as more finely dressed than King Solomon.

I am so thankful for the ways Jesus speaks to our every human concern. In Matthew 6:25-34, He shows us how He cares for the flowers and the birds, and then assures us He will care for us much more. Even in the uncertainty of the outcome of the corona-virus, we can be confident that His care for us is deep and that He understands our greatest concerns even more than we do.

So, as we spend another Sunday in our homes in an effort to limit the spread of the virus, we thought we'd send you a mini-Sunday-lesson to encourage you and your family with Jesus' words from Matthew 6:25-34. After your read Matthew 6:25-34 together, you can watch the video, Don't Worry and talk about what Jesus meant when He asked,

-"Can worry add a single hour (or cubit) to your life?"
-"Is life not more than food and clothes?"
-And how is it that we "store up for ourselves treasure in heaven?" (Matt. 6:19-21)

If you'd like, you can also enjoy this PDF iconcoloring activity together. Finally, don't miss tuning in to a special video message from Pastor Paul on the website!

We pray a joy-filled Sunday as we gather in heart!

Children's Ministry Core Values include a commitment to Transformational Teaching and Spiritually Nourished Children. For our children's ministries, this means we seek creative ways to effectively teach God's word for each age level -- to communicate who God is, that God loves us, how we can respond to him through faith in Christ, and how children can live for him in each situation.

Our goal is for these pages to provide you the information you need regarding Children's Ministries at Glenwood. The Sunday School page answers practical questions like "What classroom are the 3rd graders in? How will I know if my baby needs me while I'm in the worship service?" To learn more about the "whys" of what we do, what type of people teach our Sunday School classes, and what curriculum we use, please see the Ministry Philosophy page.
