Advent Outreach Opportunities

Advent is a time to reflect and give thanks to God for His willingness to become human for our sake.  In many ways, the world around us moves in the opposite direction - busying ourselves with holiday shopping and shifting the focus to ourselves. This year we’d like to combat this mindset by encouraging simplicity and generosity.

On Sunday, December 8th we have planned to replicate God’s generosity by serving others.  We have set up four different ways to encourage an outward focus during this holiday season and would encourage you and your family to sign up for one of the following:

  1. Roll up your sleeves and serve in practical ways at FISH food pantry.  This group will be cleaning and organizing at their downtown facility. NOTE: This team is now full.
  2. Bless families who are in residence at Open House Ministries, a place for the shelterless, by purchasing Christmas gifts for families who can’t afford it.  We have “adopted” six families and each family has been paired with volunteers. We could still use gift cards or general supplies for residents. If you'd like to sign up for this opportunity, please click here
  3. Help cook and serve a meal for the residents of Open House Ministries.  Enjoy the meal with them and encourage them as God leads. NOTE: This team is now full.
  4. Bring joy and hope to those living in assisted living facilities by sharing the gospel through singing Christmas carols with others from our church.  We have two separate facilities that have invited us to come and share.  25-40 people needed. If you'd like to sign up for the caroling team, please sign up by clicking here.
