Feb 2017 Haiti G.O. Team - Day 2

Hello!

We started the day off bright and early to leave for church at 7:00am. Mason and Johnny Filipe drove us and 7 STEP students. The 45 minute drive gave us a chance to ask lots of questions and interact with the students. The church we visited was planted about a year and a half ago by a STEP student. It's amazing to see God working in here.

We stumbled through humming along to songs we didn't know or understand, but were very excited when we heard the tune to 10,000 reasons! It was satisfying to participate in the worship with them.

Afterwards the young man playing keyboard asked James and Carly to sing 10,000 reasons while he sang in Creole. The young man loved that James and Carly sang with him.

Once back on campus, we ate lunch at Mason and Lauren's house. Lauren is an amazing cook, but she didn't make this meal. She picked it up from the grocery store. We had patae, a variety of meat-filled pastries.

Mason then took us walking through the community to see the campus and the work site. We worked our way up to a hill called Fort Wednesday where we could see all of Port-au-Prince. That was an amazing and heartbreaking sight.

From there we went to the work site and met the family that will be receiving the house. There was a Father, Mother and 5 daughters (nobody, not even Mason, could remember all their names). We are preparing for some hard work tomorrow!

Once back at the campus, we relaxed while we waited for dinner. It was worth it. Lauren continues to amaze us. She made self-serve tacos and a few other missionary couples came over to spend time with us and (what else?) watch the Superbowl!

A satisfying end to another day in Haiti.

God bless
