Haiti G.O. Team Feb 2017 Day 1

Hello!  Thank you for all your prayers! Due to God's grace and excellent airline pilots, we arrived safe and sound.

It has been a long day for all of us. We started at PDX the evening of the 3rd. After an amazing send-off and the miracle of getting through security without any bumps, we boarded our first flight.

It was the longest flight many of us had ever been on, but we have so much to be thankful for. We landed in JFK at 6am EST and got some much needed food. Three hours later, we boarded our flight to Haiti!

This flight was the first taste of Haitian culture that many of us had ever experienced. More than half the passengers were Haitian nationals. During the flight, a few courageous souls from our group began conversations with the people who seem so different from us. God was definitely there working.

We landed in Haiti, got through immigration, collected our bags and met Mason and Gary ( pronounced: gaRie, a Haitian who works with Mason) in what seemed like a flurry. They drove us through Port-au-Prince to the STEP campus where we dropped our bags to get a bit settled. Mason made it very clear we were always welcome at their house.

Lauren and the kids greeted us as if we were old friends and after only a few minutes, we felt right at home. We ate dinner (Lauren is an amazing cook!) and sang some songs.

We are exhausted, but are ready to be used by God!

Blessings,
The Haiti Team
