Haiti G.O. Team Feb 2017 Day 8

Hello once again!

The guys woke up early to play basketball with a bunch of Haitians at a nearby school. That was great. Basketball is an American sport so we had our honor to defend! Unfortunately, we got creamed. It was fun playing a competitive game with them though. Meanwhile, Lauren convinced Carlie to Zumba with her.

Then we went out into the city. The Haitians seemed to be staring a little bit less at the truck full of white people. We drove all the way to some souvenir vendors and then to a restaurant for lunch. The spot was located at the top of a mountain and had an amazing view of all of Port-au-Prince. Waiting a while for our food gave us the opportunity to just spend time fellowshipping with one another. It seems we may have become family.

The drive back to STEP went quickly, but dinner was a great time to unwind from the day and process the entire trip.

It's hard to believe that we will be back in Portland tomorrow evening, but our hearts will remain here, at least for a little while. It's easy to dismiss Haiti as a small country on the map. There are only 11 million people here, but each of them are made in the image of God. Every soul needs Christ just as much as people anywhere else. As children of God, we are called to spread the gospel, whatever the cost.

BTW, dinner was amazing as usual.

Blessings,

The Haiti G.O. Team
