Oct 2016 Haiti G.O. Team

Glenwood’s outreach strategy is to be involved in sending those called to serve on a long term basis, to assist the development of national missionaries and leaders and to send short term Global Outreach (GO) Teams to these areas. Glenwood has been involved in Haiti for many years and is eager to support ministry in any number of ways.  A team of nine have gone to Port-au-Prince this last week to minister in a number of ways, especially in doing finish work on a construction project on the STEP campus.  Check back for team updates as we receive them.

Regarding Hurricane Matthew (Sunday, Oct 2, evening) -- Hurricane Matthew is moving towards Haiti and is expected to make landfall Monday, Oct 3. Please pray for safety for our G.O. team, the many we partner with in Haiti, the large number of Haitians in and around Port-au-Prince, and the country as a whole.  Jamaica and Cuba are also expected to receive the strongest effects of the storm.

Regarding Hurricane Matthew (Monday, Oct 3, morning) -- The G.O. team wanted everyone to know they may be out of cell or wi-fi service if the storm knocks out the power. As of this morning, they still do have power and are hard at work on the STEP building.

Regarding Hurricane Matthew (Tuesday, Oct 4, morning) -- The G.O. team is once again busy working this morning. They still have power, cell service and wifi. We'll post any more updates as we get them.  We also have confirmation that Mason and Lauren and their kids are safe.

Regarding Hurricane Matthew (Wednesday, Oct 5, morning) -- Hurricane Matthew has moved north of Haiti.  There was rain and wind in Port-au-Prince, but the team and the Youngs were and are safe.  Please continue to pray for the large number of people who are still impacted by the amount of water and wind that came in, especially those without a sturdy home/shelter.

Regarding Hurricane Matthew (Thursday, Oct 6, evening) -- We've received word that Merger did receive rain from Hurricane Matthew, but there was no flooding there.  Praise God!  The team is meeting with Johny and Rosadite Philippe tonight.

The team returned home safely late Saturday night, October 8.
